Tattle: Hef's ex: My mamms are worth a mil →
From the Daily News, September 30, 2011.
This column directly relates to this tweet about how I pick what leads the column. For those keeping score at home, this was a rare success in terms of getting questionable words through the copy editors who should regard my Tattle columns with a healthy level of disgust.

Scene: Walking home from the gym on 9th right above South. Car filled with twentysomething white boys pulls up next to me. Kid in the back sticks his out the window
Kid: Hey, can you tell us how to get to Irish Pub … with your top off!
What I should have done: Explained that his seemingly harmless prank was a form of sexual assault that only served to make me feel like an inferior class...

Do I like this song because it’s called “Molly vs. the World” and Molly is my name. Yes, yes I do. But I also like the line “Molly will destroy your planet.”
Thanks AV Club Philly!

Why I didn't like "Moneyball" even though everyone...
Late in “Moneyball“‘s game, Brad Pitt, as A’s GM Bully Beane says something like, “It’s hard not to be romantic about baseball.” In fact, he says it twice. I whole-heartedly agree. It’s America’s game, steeped in history and celebrity. It’s why I love baseball movies and hate the designated hitter.
And it’s exactly why I...

Ms. Meriwether has learned, though, that penis jokes do have a limit. In an...
– Bill Carter wrote a very smart piece about the word of the season — that would be ‘vagina’ — in this season’s crop of women-led shows. I think the above quote, from “New Girl” showrunner Liz Meriwether, summarizes why I don’t like this new trend, as I...

This whole California trip started after a particularly epic text message convo about “Dr. Who,” which is a ridiculous excuse to travel a couple thousand miles across the country. But Emily and I also once left a party to come up with a concept for an hour-long CW drama about dogs that both solved crimes and navigated the trials and tribulations of their respective love lives. All live...

She removed the comments but I gotta hand it to the woman, that’s ballsy. And because it’s Hollywood, this has to be...

Here's where I talk about TV for a long time: "How...
The new TV season officially started yesterday, meaning my life has gotten exponentially better. Kicked it off last night with a shitty episode of “How I Met Your Mother” (“The Best Man”), a promising episode of “2 Broke Girls” and a considerably better episode of “HIMYM” (“The Naked Truth”).
What’s interesting about both shows is...

Here's where I talk about TV some more: "The...
There was nothing I wanted to add about episode five of “The Hour” so think of this as more of an addendum to this post about a show that none of the five (that’s generous) people who read this Tumblr have presumably watched.
Thinking more about class represented in British and American culture isn’t so much that Americans don’t discuss class so much as American...

True Confessions
I have all of “The Larry Sanders Show” on my DVR because they play the reruns on IFC late at night. The entire series is also on Netflix so I could conceivably watch all of it in sequence without worrying about the commercials.
I keep the DVR-d version because of the late night infomercials.

Tattle: Pix that would make her mom Scarlett →
From the Daily News, Sept. 15, 2011.
This is currently the third most read article on Philly.com, behind a story about a dominatrix (and former Penn Ph.D) whose boyfriends keep dying and one about the Phillies, making my thoughts on ScarJo’s ta-tas the most read thing I will ever write in my life.
But the item about the “Real Housewife” running away with Neal Motherfucking...

Here's where I'm gonna talk about TV for a long...
”The Hour,” a six-episode BBC series about a television news show set in 1956, has garnered many a-comparison to the much beloved “Mad Men” because it’s set during a comparable era, is cinematically shot and uses the time period as a motivating force for one of the plotlines (in this case, it’s the Suez Crisis).
There are some definite similarities,...

Tattle: Fox gives Jay-Z a bad rap over NoLibs... →
From the Daily News, Sept. 9, 2011
Came into the office to find a message waiting for me hating on my treatment of Jay-Z, essentially telling me I’m not racist enough especially because, and this is my fave: ”Weren’t you one of the girls beaten up in the flash mob? And you still have nice thing to say about black people after that? After what they did to you?” Yep, believe...

His 'Pain' a Big Gain →
From the Daily News, Sept. 9, 2011.
This about Kevin Hart, who grew up in North Philly and is releasing his first stand-up special, “Laugh at my Pain,” to theaters.
Journalism note: This was one of those rare interviews that I thought went terribly after it was done, but found it wasn’t so horrible after listening to the tape. This is rare. Very rare. Also: I really like...

I follow the Fresh Air Tumblr because it’s nice and I like Fresh Air. They recently wondered why a 2005 interview with the RZA was blowing up traffic-wise.
Clearly the only sensible answer is that hearing Terry Gross say Old Dirty Bastard is fantastic.
